✓Rename & organize PDF downloads

Give PDFs useful names. Keep files organized.

A readable filename and a predictable folder make a document set easier to revisit. Review the titles found for your PDFs, choose a naming mode, and organize a mixed file set by format or source site. Check the saved results rather than assuming every title is useful.

  1. Review the PDF filenames

    • b072.pdf
    • c103.pdf
  2. Confirm titles and naming

Automatic naming falls back to the original name when no useful title is available. Folder examples show alternatives.

How the file downloader works

Follow links by depthDepth 0 is the open page. Depth 1 adds the pages it links to, and depth 2 goes one step further. Files are listed from every level.
Narrow the listFilter by file type, name or a regular expression, then tick only the files you need.
Save the way you needSave to a folder, bundle into a ZIP, merge PDFs into one, or export the list as CSV.

Names and folders serve different purposes

Recognize a document

Use a meaningful retrieved or edited title, or deliberately keep the original filename. Check the extension as well.

Find a file set

Group a mixed set by file type or source site. Choose no grouping when a single folder is easier.

Best for

  • ✓Keep PDFs from a manual or public-document list easier to recognize.
  • ✓Separate a mixed set of PDFs, spreadsheets and other files by format.

Workflow

  1. 1Scan the page that lists the PDFs, filter the results to PDF and tick the files you want to save.
  2. 2Check the titles. Press “Fetch selected PDF titles” to read each title from the PDF itself. Double-click a title, press F2 or use the pencil (“Edit title”) to change it; “Reset titles” undoes your edits.
  3. 3Open “Details” and choose “Save as”: “Auto (title when usable)”, “Title” or “Original file name”. To sort into folders, open “More actions” and set “Organize” to “By type”, “By domain” or “No folders”.
  4. 4Press “Save selected files” or create a ZIP (Free: up to 10 files per download). Check names, extensions and folders in the result; in Firefox the files go to Downloads/GrabAllFiles.

Decide what makes a name useful

Procedure materials

Check that titles distinguish the procedure, required documents and supporting guidance. Add a stated revision to your own title only after confirming it.

Mixed reference set

Keep PDFs and spreadsheets in file-type groups, and verify that the files you expected were saved.
Save-name and grouping choices
ChoiceUse
Automatic / title / original nameChoose based on the title quality and the original name. Title mode can retain generic titles, so review them.
File type / domain / no groupingOrganize by format or source site; this is not automatic subject classification.
Download / ZIPUse an ordinary file set or archive and check the saved structure.

FAQ

Does it always find the PDF’s real title?

No. Available metadata or page headings may be missing or generic. Review the retrieved title; automatic mode can use the original filename when no useful title is found.

Does type grouping understand document subjects?

It groups files by file type or source domain, not by an inferred business subject. A PDF-only set is still the same file format.

Can I choose any destination folder in every browser?

Destination depends on browser support and download settings. Chromium can offer a folder picker; Firefox uses its Downloads/GrabAllFiles route. Check the resulting destination.

Can I rename a large set for free?

Yes. “Save as”, title editing and “Organize” all work in Free. Free saves up to 10 selected files per download; to continue, select the next files and press “Save selected files” again. Pro ($19.99 one-time, up to 3 devices) removes the per-download cap.
